I want to have a smiley face! How do I do that?

Some ppl have like cursive looking letters in there account name or Smiley Faces, i know how to do a heart ~~> ? (Fn+Alt+L) but how do u do everything else??

As you have correctly identified, most users make use of alt codes in order to produce symbols and images. These codes are activated by pressing down the ‘alt’ button on a keyboard followed by a numerical code on the number pad which is located to the right hand side of the keyboard.

To activate the code, simply hold down the ‘alt’ key and type in the code displayed on the number pad which is to the right-hand side of the keyboard. On most laptops, you shall be required to hold down a blue function (FNC) button in order to activate the number pad which is located on the keys to the right-hand side of the keyboard.

I noticed my avatar changed to a gray smiley face recently, too. What does this mean? Where did my avatar go? How can I get it back?
